Pelion consists of 24 picturesque and\npreserved villages its of which had a network of paths constituting the main\ncommunication point between the villages and the city of Volos. It is an\noutdoor mountain activity that attracts more and more visitors. Pelion is the\nideal for hiking trips of any time for the year helping its visitors to admire\nthe Pelion landscape and discover its well-hidden treasures. There is an\nextensive hiking network that enables hikers to explore the hidden and\nmythological aspects of traditional villages. The hiking trails are mainly on\nan extensive network of cobbled streets and on narrow forest roads with lush\nvegetation. There are several elevation differences, with few downhill and\nuphill routes available. Preparing for the hike of your choice involves\nsearching for information on the internet, special hiking maps or the support\nof one of the many maintain guides active in the area.<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NECESSARY EQUIPMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hiking boots or good sneakers<\/li><li>Waterproof\/Windproof<\/li><li>Backpack<\/li><li>Hiking poles<\/li><li>Suitable clothing (depending on weather conditions)<\/li><li>Hat<\/li><li>Sunscreen<\/li><li>Sunglasses<\/li><li>Pharmacy<\/li><li>Flashlight<\/li><li>Sanitary ware<\/li><li>Trash bag<\/li><li>Snack-Water<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HIKING POINTS IN PELION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Centaur Trail:<\/strong> This is a circular route of\napproximately 2,7 km with a duration of 1,5 \u2013 2 hours (with stops). It is an\nideal route for beginners and is suitable for all ages. The path spreads\nbetween plants, streams and wooden bridge. The route starts from the chapel of\nAgia Marina and follows the points: Agios Nikolaos chapel, Mana fountains,\nPortaria square and ends again in the chapel of Agia Marina. The colors of the\nlandscape are magical, more vibrant during the spring months and more\nmelancholic in the autumn. The path is signposted for the exact course of\nvisitors. It is a mythical course where contact with the natural landscape is\nreciprocal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Village Trail:<\/strong> This is a 30 km route with a duration\nof 9 hours (with stops). It is a hiking trail unites successive villages,\nexploiting and highlighting the natural beauty of the landscape inviting the\nvisitor to explore the \u201cMountain of Centaur\u201d. The route is clean and signposted\nand most villages provide accommodation, catering and transportation. The hike\nstarts from Aidonofolies or Fytoko and follows the villages Portaria,\nMakrinitsa, Stagiates, Drakeia, Agios Vlasios, Agios Lavrentios and ends at Ano\nLechonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; More and different difficulty\noptions are available, such as climbing from Volos to Makrinitsa or Portaria\nand Chania, near the top of Pelion. From Portaria can someone follow a route\nwith beautiful villages, to the seaside village of Lechonia in the Pagasitic\nGulf or to the Eastern Pelion, to Tsagarada and then to Damouhari Port and Papa\nNero beach in the Aegean.
